The Dutch Auction Sports Card (DASC) ecosystem involves three market participants: the consignor, the third-party buyer, and DASC itself. Each plays a critical role in creating an efficient marketplace for getting sports cards from one collector to another. For the ecosystem to prosper, all three must benefit. The consignor benefits by sometimes achieving higher sale prices and always maintaining control of the consignment. The buyer benefits by sometimes realizing lower sale prices and always being confident in the fairness of the auction. DASC benefits by sometimes earning a commission of the final sale, sometimes buying sports cards at low prices, and always the enjoyment of being involved in transacting sports cards.
