5x5: 1961 Fleer #47, HOF Wilt Chamberlain RC (In Action) - PSA 2.5

$564.00

A true pioneer of the game, Wilt Chamberlain literally and figuratively towered over his peers as a pioneer of professional basketball. In an era when the NBA was still shaping its identity, Chamberlain’s unprecedented size, strength, and athleticism produced records that remain almost mythical—most famously his 100-point game and averaging over 50 points per game the year of this card. Many don’t realize he also led the league in minutes played per game an incredible nine times. His impact on the game included being the impetus of many rule changes, including the width of the lane, inbounding rules, and goaltending. Chamberlain helped elevate the NBA’s popularity, drawing crowds and media attention that pushed professional basketball into the mainstream to compete with baseball and football in America.

The 1961 Fleer basketball set is widely considered one of the most important pre-1990s sets for the sport. Card #8 is typically seen as Chamberlain’s “true” rookie card, but this In Action card is also classified as a rookie card. Other important rookies from the set include Jerry West and Oscar Robinson. This copy’s technical grade is due to a very minor wrinkle in the top right corner (see close up photos) and a light indent along the right side. Neither defect is noticeable at arm's length from the front, although the wrinkle is a little more noticeable on the reverse.  This card presents like a 5 or 6 unless inspected with great care. Get mid-grade eye appeal at lower-grade prices!

This 5×5 Dutch auction started on January 12th, 2026, at $564.00. It will be reduced by 5% every five days.
