Producing cards between 1952 and 1955, in 1953 Red Man Tobacco put out its “Red Man All-Stars”: 25 of the top players from each league, plus the 1952 World Series managers. Not all of the best players were included though; Mickey Mantle was left out despite placing third in MVP voting the year prior.
No longer a household name, Ted Kluszewski was a bona fide star during his strongest years, 1952 through 1956. He cleared 3.0 WAR each season, topping out at 7.8 in 1954 when he led the National League in home runs and RBIs and finished runner-up in MVP voting to a gentleman named Willie. Kluszewski famously cut the sleeves off his jerseys to accomodate his biceps, and his 1957 Topps card is cherished in the hobby for its feature of his bare arms.
This Dutch auction began on December 11th, 2025, at $138.75. It will be reduced by 5% every five days until it is sold.
